REturned Citizen SUpport Groups

  • Our Returned NMT Alumni have organized a peer support group that is open to anyone who has returned home from incarceration. The group is autonomously led by returned citizens working to address the challenges and obstacles specific to people returning home from long periods of incarceration.

If you or a loved one are interested, please contact us at nomoretearssq@gmail.com

We currently hold meetings via Zoom but hope to expand to include in-person meetings. Stay tuned!

  • We currently have in-person Healing Circles twice per month in Oakland, CA near Lake Merritt for community members and Returned Citizens. In this space we focus on community healing through learning skills that we can utilize to better our relationship to ourselves and each other.

Topics include emotional intelligence, financial healing and literacy, interpersonal relationship skills, etc. — anything that meets the group's needs.

Homecoming Packages

  • Post Release Meals are a time for celebration and quality time for loved ones and returned citizens.

Post-Release Shopping allows our Returned Citizens to enjoy the experience of purchasing essential items (i.e., clothing, personal hygiene products, etc.) upon release.

Upon request, we provide a paid cell phone and the first 30 days of service.

  • Reentry Mini-Loans and Gifts range from $200 - $2,000 and are given on a case-by-case basis to support Returned Citizens with any financial needs to aid the financial pressure and instability Returned Citizens may face upon release.

Inside Case Management

  • Case Management is an ongoing process that includes creating a customized reentry plan based on our Needs Assessment and check-ins as changes and developments in each person’s case occur inside and post-release.

Often, this includes Letter Writing from our staff and volunteers for Board of Parole hearings, 1170 and other resentencing opportunities.

  • Our Homecoming Packages are personalized from our Needs Assessments.

In addition to our services listed under Homecoming Packages, we also provide services based on need. This includes:

    • Transportation to parole agent meetings, appointments, and legal proceedings.

    • Housing referrals

    • Financial and banking counseling

    • Assistance in obtaining California ID/ Driver's License

NMT is there through the entire reentry process, not just at the gate.
